Whenever I say 'rap', my friends think of those Americanized music where all, or most, rap about sex or money. Or if you're Willow Smith, whipping your hair back and forth. Honestly, it pains me to see how rap came from telling stories to spitting rhymes for fame. Most of our "stereotypes" today, has history! Did you know krumping originated so it could be used to glorify God?

One of my favorite Christian hip hop artist is NAK. His lyrics stabbed me in the heart when I first started listening to him. It was amazing how he could explain every thought in my mind, through lyrics, without me even trying to convey them. Now that, is a gift.

Music is a wonderful gift from God; whether you're playing and instrument or singing in the pews, you're able to glorify God with your notes or voice. Yes, we all play different parts, but we're essentially the same song. And we use that song to sing praises and worship. The passage even said God was so pleased, he filled the temple! When I look at our service, I pray each time that the holy spirit will be upon them; that the words they sing are not due to the words on the screen, or the words burned in their head. I pray that the music is from the heart; from the soul; because you want to praise God. Isn't it amazing for everyone to just praise him because of his glory, not worrying if you're out of tune, or if you look funny while playing the guitar? To just utterly fall in love with God all over again after each word flows out of your heart.

Lately, it's been so hard to praise him since my week has been absolutely horrendous. Even today, there was not a day I could go without crying, asking God why repeatedly...but he brought me back...through music. The I Heart Revolution album. Man, that made me shake.Whether it be in the church building, or on the street, I thank God because every genre can be used to worship him; and every voice is able to sing praises to him.

Those who praise God on earth will feel at home in heaven.
