The Dalton Gang

Proverbs 4:10-19

Today's devotion used a real-life example with a lesson we can all learn from. The Dalton brothers started off as law officers, keeping people in line, but then eventually fell into a path of crime and robberies. As they tried to rob two banks at once one day, the townspeople opened fired and when stopped, only one remained. The sole survivor began to reflect on his actions, and 15 years later when he was released, he became passionate about deterring young individuals away from the life of crime.

"The path of the righteous is like the first glean of dawn, shining ever brighter till the full light of day." [Proverbs 4:18]

Just as the survivor of the Dalton brothers, we too can learn from our mistakes. Not only that, we can help others not make the mistakes we did, and deter them away from sin through our own personal experience. If the experience was painful, would you want your brother or sister experiencing that same pain?

"He who turns a sinner from the error of his way will save a soul from death.” [James 5:20]

When we learn from our mistakes, we are less likely to repeat them.
