Benefits of Friendships/More More More

Ecclesiastes 4:9-12/Philippians 4:10-20

I did my devotions yesterday, but I forgot to post it, so here it is. (:

Friends are a huge part of anyone's life. They encourage us, love us, make us feel appreciated, build us up, and also keep us accountable. This isn't something that is only known now, it was known since the days where King Solomon wrote this!

"Two are better than one, because they have a good reward for their labor. For if they fall, one will lift up his companion. But woe to him who is alone when he falls, for he has no one to help him up." [Ecclesiastes 4:9-10]

Those who are without friends are at a disadvantage as no one is there to help them when they fall. They say that two heads are better than one, and that is so totally true. Even if you only had one friend, one special friend whom you trust wholeheartedly, it's enough. Because two are always better than one!

When you're younger, do you remember always saying, "MORE MORE MORE"?! 'cause I do. Whether its ice cream, food, or toys, I always wanted more, and I was never content. Even now, sometimes I want more, more, more, but then this passage states clearly that nothing can satisfy like God!

"I have learned in whatever state I am, to be content." [Philippians 4:11]

No matter where you are in life, we need to be content with what we have, what we're blessed with, and everything God has planned out for us. It's incredible hard for all of us, since we are so rich compared to everyone else in the world. Nothing should replace that space that God has in our heart. Even though Paul suffered through trials, jail and being beaten, he ultimately was content with everything as he also built churches, spread the word and lived a Christ-driven life! Contentment is only possible when you have "more" of Christ. (:

Friends are flowers in the garden of life/True contentment is not dependent on anything in this world.
