Consider The Source

James 1:12-18

Has anyone ever made an apple pie? One of the many ingredients it holds is cinnamon. For myself, I never really pondered where it came from. Apple pie ingredients? Just go to the store and purchase whatever the recipe calls for! But I never honestly stood there and thought, where the heck does cinnamon come from?! Apparently 90% of the cinnamon in the world comes from Sri Lanka.

"Every good gift and every perfect gift is from above, and comes down from the Father of lights." [James 1:17]

Sometimes, my relationship with Christ is like that. I forget where the blessings that are overflowed into my life is from. The shelter, food, friends in my life; all these things, sometimes I forget to give thanks to the giver. Now I smack myself in the head; why do I never consider the source of my joy? It's all God. I should be thankful for the people in my life whom have affected me so much, and know it wasn't just by chance. They're in my life for a reason and that's because they came from God. He blessed them into my life and I need to thank the giver, the source of all creation.

Gratitude is a God-honouring attitude.
