Have you noticed people are more generous during the Christmas season? People are willing to go all out on gifts, presents, and donating to charities. Yet when the season is over, people often complain that they wished Christmas was here. Is our kindness and goodness only shown during December?
The first two chapter of Luke are often referred to as "The Christmas Story." The birth of Jesus through a virgin and John the Baptist are stories we often hear during this time. But wait! They didn't buy gifts or lavish each other with presents. No, they were just filled with the Holy Spirit!
"The Spirit will come upon you, and the power of the Highest will overshadow you." [Luke 1:35]
These individuals recognized the Spirit's work within them and guided them. Some questions my devotion asked me to ponder:
- Do we, like them, recognize the Spirit's voice in the midst of all others?
- Are we alert to His promptings and eager to obey?
- Will we allow his warmth and love to fill our hearts and flow through our hands?
The Holy Spirit being upon us shouldn't be a one-year thing, like at Christmas or Teens Conference. The Holy Spirit will be with us all year long. Every day, every moment, and every second.

Jesus went away so the Spirit could stay.
