What's in a name?
Someone once told me, my mom had named me from a dictionary. A quick Google search told me what my name meant:
1) possessing wit in speech or writing; amusingly clever in perception and expression
2) characterized by wit
3) intelligent; clever
Truthfully, I never liked my name up until high school. It was weird and no one knew what it meant (except for my teachers). I wanted a normal name like Karen or Chloe, but Witty? I knew my parents hoped I was smart by giving me this name; they wanted my name to be my personality; quick witted, funny and clever. It wasn't until high school that I started to actually like the fact I was unique and given a different name.
"She will give birth to a son, and you are to give him the name Jesus, because he will save his people from their sins." [Matthew 1:21]
Jesus had a different story though; his name wasn't given by his parents, but by an angel! But his name wasn't for hoping his personality trait or named after someone famous; it was to reveal his purpose. Isn't that why Jesus' name is so beautiful and majestic? It reveals his purpose, and that is why it is the name above all names. His name is sweeter than honey on our lips!

Jesus: His name and His mission are one and the same.
