Stick Together

Ephesians 4:1-17

I hate ants. As a kid, you used to be curious and play with them, but as I grew up, I developed a slight OCD and germaphobic tendencies. God always tells us to learn from ants, who are loyal to their queen and are able to carry more than their body weight! But we can also learn from fire ants!

Fire ants sink and struggle in water and floods by themselves, but when they're together, they float! Scientists discovered that they have these tiny hairs on their bodies that allow them to trap air bubbles! When they cling together, thousands of ants together, they are able to float and turn themselves into tiny life rafts!

"Make every effort to keep the unity of the Spirit through the bond of peace. There is one body and one Spirit -just as you were called to one hope when you were called- one Lord, one faith, one baptism; one God and Father of all, who is over all and through all and in all." [Ephesians 4:3-6]

As life washes over us, we must cling together and to God in order to survive the waves that may break us apart. In order to grow spiritually and spread the news, we must go out, but still stick together as one body in order to survive successfully.

"We will no longer be infants, tossed back and forth by the waves, and blown here and there by every wind of teaching and by the cunning and craftiness of men in their deceitful scheming... From him the whole body, joined and held together by every supporting ligament, grows and builds itself up in love, as each part does its work." [Ephesians 4:14,16]

We must stick together if we must grow and build ourselves up in love. If we see a brother and sister fraying, we must go and help them, no matter where the wind and waves may bring us. For a while now, I've been pushing everyone away. Not because I don't like people, but because I've been tossed constantly under work, stress and trying to fit everything into my life. But I realize that no matter the situation, it's best to stick together. When there is a burden, it can be shared. But happiness is doubled, tripled, multiplied when shared!

Christians stand strong when they stand together.
