Speech.

When you eat something spicy what does your mouth feel like? How do you react?

Maybe you gulp a glass of water, fan your mouth with your hand, close your mouth, relish the burn, and start to sweat. Whatever you do, it's practically automatic. Your body sends a signal to your brain saying "Help!" Your brain reacts, sending signals to your body. Before you know it, you're gulping a glass of water. Your mouth feels better.

Mark 13:11

Whenever you are arrested and brought to trial, do not worry beforehand about what to say. Just say whatever is given you at the time, for it is not you speaking, but the Holy Spirit.

Did you know the Holy Spirit has the power to give you words to say? Not words to crush or intimidate, but words to teach and to reveal God's Spirit. The Holy Spirit knows what you say, even when you don't. And just as your brain moves you to cool down your spice-abused mouth, the Holy Spirit moves you to speak.

Have you ever spoken God's words?

If you don't remember that a glass of water is available when your mouth is burning, your brain will find an alternative. Likewise, if you don't rely on the Holy Spirit within you for words to say, you'll find an alternative to God's words- your own.

Choice?

Tumblr_m0lj1gnmeo1r5ptv1o1_500_large

Yesterday, something hit me. A simple statement, a simple question. I needed to go out early, so i was lazy and asked my mom to buy take out for dinner. And she asked me, "what do you want to eat?"

"What do you want to eat?"

Simple statement eh? We probably get that asked all the time. But for some reason, last night when i was asked that, mind. blown.

This question has greater meaning/underlying message in it. The fact that we can be asked this shows that we have choice. The fact that when that question is asked, i can say almost everything. From sushi, to curry, from the typical chinese food, to Italian, choice is a blessing. It really shows how amazingly and overly blessed we are.

Thinking about it, i feel like these first world countries are completely spoiled. The fact we can get food from all over the world in one building, or have parts of the world shipping onto one plate in one sitting. Its a blessing.

We take these things granted daily. Its something we should constantly be thinking about and be thankful for. I think being thankful really develops humilty as well. When you're thankful you know that God gave you these things, that it wasnt you who brought the food to the table, it was God, and that nothing belongs to you, you learn to be humble in that way.

How blessed are you?
Im sure if you tried to make a list of your blessings, it wouldnt end.

Numbers 6:24-26
24
The Lord bless you and keep you;
25 the Lord make his face to shine upon you and be gracious to you;
26 the Lord lift up his countenance upon you and give you peace.

Breakfast, Lunch, Dinner, POOF!

Its almost everyday, im upstairs and i hear my parents call "sik fann!" (let's eat!) and i think i've always been taking it for granted. That the food just magically appears on the table each time. Until today. They called it and i was thinking, about all the hard work and effort to get the food onto the plate and in my mouth. From bringing in the money to buy the food, driving to get it, picking it out, paying for it, storing it, seasoning it, washing it, cooking it, plating it and then finally eating it.

And this isnt a once in a month thing. Its not a once a week thing either. Its a 3 times a day thing. And i think its always been in the back of my mind, but i dont think i've fully realized how blessed we are. That we have family and parents that are willing to put their time, money and effort into getting the food on the table.

We have to continuously learn to be thankful. Of our family, or friends, but most important, of our Saviour. We definitely take things on this world for granted way too much. I also think being thankful keeps us grounded. It reminds us that someone greater has provided for us, and has loved us. That we, i guess you can say, are incapable, and that we're thankful to have someone be there for us. It reminds us that we cant do it alone.

Breakfast, Lunch, and Dinner dont just magically appear on the table.
Be Thankful.
